Privacy policy

The short version

We run Google Analytics to see which pages get read and which buy links get clicked. We do not sell data, we do not run display advertising, and there is no newsletter collecting email addresses. If you use the contact form, we get your message and your email address so we can reply.

That is the whole picture. The detail follows.

What we collect

Analytics. Google Analytics 4 records standard web analytics: pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP, device and browser type, how you arrived, and which of our buy links you clicked. Google processes this on our behalf; their handling is governed by Google’s own privacy terms.

We use one custom event, affiliate_click, which records that a buy link was clicked, which merchant it pointed at and which page it was on. It does not identify you.

Contact form. If you write to us, we receive the name, email address and message you type, plus the topic you select. That goes to our inbox and is used to reply to you and to action any correction you report. It is not added to any marketing list, because we do not have one.

Server logs. Our host records standard request logs, including IP addresses, as part of operating and securing the site.

What we do not collect

• No accounts. There is nothing to sign up for and no login.
• No newsletter. We do not collect email addresses for marketing.
• No display advertising. There are no ad networks on this site, and therefore none of the tracking that comes with them.
• No payment information. We never handle a transaction. Purchases happen entirely on the retailer’s site.
• No data selling or sharing for advertising. Ever.

Affiliate links, specifically

When you click a buy button, you pass through a redirect on this domain which sends you to the retailer with our Amazon Associates tracking ID (driftanddime-20) attached.

What that means: the retailer — not us — may set a cookie so that if you buy, the sale is credited to this site. We receive aggregate commission reporting from Amazon. We do not receive your name, your address, your payment details, or a list of what you bought.

Once you leave this site you are on the retailer’s property and their privacy policy applies. Full detail on how the commercial side works is on the disclosure page.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies of its own. Google Analytics sets its own cookies to distinguish sessions, and the retailer sets its own once you follow a buy link.

You can block all of it. Browser settings, private browsing, an ad blocker or Google’s own Analytics opt-out add-on will each stop the analytics. The site works normally either way — nothing here is gated behind tracking, and our buy links still function with analytics blocked.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, and to object to processing.

Practically, the only personal data we hold is what you sent us through the contact form. Email info@driftanddime.com and we will delete it.

We do not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of in that respect.

Children

This site is intended for adults buying equipment. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us something through the contact form, email us and we will delete it.

Third parties we use

• Google Analytics — site analytics.
• Vercel — hosting and content delivery; standard server logs.
• Microsoft Graph — delivers contact form messages to our inbox.
• Amazon — affiliate program and product data.

Product images, where shown, are served from Amazon’s content delivery network, which means your browser makes a request to Amazon when a page displays one.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page changes with it. We do not make quiet edits to it.
